Norbert Michelisz has told fans of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO to “expect a good show” when Race 1 at Ningbo gets underway at 15h30 local time.
The BRC Racing Team driver qualified third in his Hyundai i30 N TCR and believes he has the pace to fight for his second victory of the season following his breakthrough triumph in Slovakia prior to the summer break.
“Starting from P3 you have a good shot, even at winning the race,” said the Hungarian. “My aim is to have a good launch and see what my chances are. This circuit is really good for racing and overtaking. You have a couple of hairpins, you have a wide circuit so you can variate your lines into the corners, which gives you a good opportunity to attack. I expect a good show.”
While Michelisz starts third, his team-mate Gabriele Tarquini will line up ninth as he serves a five-place grid penalty for a driving infringement in Race 3 in Slovakia. Norbert Nagy falls from P16 to P21 for a similar offence.
Meanwhile, Fabizio Giovanardi has been given a five-place penalty for a turbo change in Ningbo.
