Norbert Michelisz’s fear he’d be demoted to the back of the grid for Race 1 at FIA WTCR AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco has been realised after an enforced engine change resulted in a penalty.
Michelisz had set the second fastest time in First Qualifying but sat out almost half the session after stopping when his Hyundai i30 N TCR briefly caught fire. He was on the DHL Pole Position at the time.
Following the session his BRC Racing Team requested the change as a precaution. The penalty puts him to the back of the grid for the first race to count towards the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, which begins at 17h00 local time.
